Thursday, 6:56 p.m., Mossdeep City's Community Stadium.

The challengers came and went quickly, the battles more abrupt than usual.

The gym Leader had taken a harsher approach ever since the invasion of Mossdeep, more concerned with properly assessing and guiding challengers than with handing out badges.

As he finished with his advice and dismissed the latest challenger, his gaze rose back to the stands, finding his next opponent.

"ghost fireheart." He intoned, making eye contact with the younger man. "Come."

A returning challenger.

He was looking forward to the young man's growth since they had last met. He could always appreciate someone who understood the purpose of gym types and prepared accordingly.

With a sweep of his arm, he sent out the same steelix the younger man and his Typhlosion faced last time, nodding at them both.

"You may begin."

It was show time and it couldn't be any sooner. Ghost would look on as he saw what was happening next. It was the rematch against the gym leader who humbled him and even gave his Typhlosion his very first lost. As the time of day was evening Ghost only had so much time. But now was the time to prove his team had what it took to take on the rematch." Beating you will give me access to the elite four seeing as this badge will be number four overall. I can not afford to lose this time as I have learned so much from our last encounter....Now Go Forth Typhlosion."

With a burst of Fire he would come out of his Pokeball all fired up. He was ready to do what he had to do as Ghost was giving the first move. Soon with a snap of his fingers and his hat on straight. He would simply say,"Now just like we promise use Flame Thrower on the ground." *Soon his mighty fire type would go to work.

As he spat out the fore it would engulf the ground and thus the rematch would began.

Searing hot flames bathed the soil in deathly heat as the Typhlosion kicked off the match.

The gym leader's eyes narrowed, head cocking slighty to the side. Immediately different from his first attempt... the next few moments would tell if whatever Ghost had cooked up was any good.

The Steelix backed off slightly as the blazing flames turned the soil into scalding dirt, its eyes narrowing before it suddenly curled and coiled unto itself. A moment later, it unwind sharply, its steel carapace scrapping against soil as a storm of dust came roaring alive from its center mass.

A sandstorm blew across the battlefield, lowering visibility and buffeting against the Typhlosion's skin, the winds attempting to cool off Ghost's plan.

The young man would've to see his plan through quickly.

Ghost would be all smiles as he saw the Steelix move into action. As Ace braced himself he saw the Steelix move into a defense like stance. Soon he would see the Steelix next move as Ghost would say to Ace the Typhlosion. "He just did it if anything Sandstorm is a Steelix go to defense but in this case we will use it against him." As he looked on Ghost would snap his fingers and then say, "Now use Flame Thrower but this time aim for the top of the Steelix Sandstorm."

Ace the Typhlosion would look on as he stumbled back a bit. Covering his face some what to try his best to block the sand. Soon he would fill his mouth with fire as he launched it at the sand storm. The fire both top and and bottom would start to heat up the battlefield. As if a heat wave came about. The air pressure from the storm itself sould increase the fire by causing more of it to come. Ghost would look on as he braced himself for the next attack.

As the fire swirled above the storm, the arid heat continued to climb up, the air shimmering as if they had truly taken step into a desert.

The Gym leader raised a hand over his head, beads of sweat beginning to gather where his neck met his collar as he lightly tilted his head, observing the battle intently.

As the raging, superheated sandstorm whipt through, the visibility wavering between good or bad as the dust rose and fell, the titanic frame of the Steelix appeared to... somehow, completely disappear.

"The Flame Throwers that we sent out was used better then we did the last time. You see by aiming at the ground it would indeed heat things up and by aiming at the air it would do the same. Causing the room temperature to increase dramatically especially to both our pokemon. But get this the heat is ideal for only one pokemon I wonder which is that. But by it being so hot the steelix run a very high chance of getting burned and that Sandstorm you whipped up earlier may have damage my Typhlosion. But in all honesty it also did him a favor and that's causing the heat to move around alot faster so fast in fact the only place for your epic pokemon to go is underground. However, we were caught off guard the last time, and this time, we got something for you. Now Ace USE EARTHQUAKE NOWWWW!!!"

He would scream with a passion as Ghost looked on, hitting a steel type with one of the almost powerful attacks that a ground type can use, and it's super effective against him. As the ground started to rumble, the earthquake would take center stage and go all out, especially seeing as the Steelix was underground.

Typhlosion would step back a bit as the sand storm buffed him.

A seismic shock rocks the stadium as the Typhlosion strikes the earth.

Soil and stone is upheaved in a violent shockwave.

The gym leader brought his hands together in a firm clapping sound as his steelix came barreling out of the earth with a thrumming roar, its body battered and cracked as it arched through the air violently, before its head came crashing down unto its side.

The titan panted and struggled, deep loud breaths echoing as its body slowly slithered over burning soil.

The gym leader continued to clap.

"Excellent." He declared of the younger man's strategy, before raising his arm in the air.

A crackling boom echoed as the mega keystone in his gauntlet shone— before the light of mega evolution enveloped the Steelix, it's body growing in size as cracks slightly sealed around its crystalizing form.

From it emerged Mega Steelix, heavy pants leaving its maw still as it reeled back and a myriad mounds of crystal grew from the earth— and began launching stones towards the typhlosion.

tl;dr:
-Steelix took heavy damage from that Earthquake. She's looking on her last legs.
-The gym leader used Mega Evolution.
-Mega Steelix (Still heavily injured)'s Sand Force has activated.
-Mega Steelix used Rock Blast.
